2023 May 14 - Maine

We opened our camp this week and got to go out fishing on 2 different days. The first day we caught a lot of pickerel, some bass, 1 yellow perch and 1 shiner. We could see the bait fish and jumping out of the water to get away from the larger fish, so we knew exactly where to cast.

Today we caught a lot largemouth bass and they were pretty good size. This was the largest at 3 lbs even. It was awfully cold and windy today but we still had fun.

So for the record- Frank caught the first fish of the season, but I caught the largest bass!

2022 Aug 28-30 Bear Spring Camp

We spent 3 nights at our favorite fishing camp and had a great time. The weather was tough— very hot and sunny during the day and the wind was a constant 10 mph which made boat control and casting a challenge. We had my brother George with us this year and this was his first experience at a fishing camp. The food was very good, and I think we all gained a couple of pounds! Here are just some of the fish we caught this trip.

We all caught at least 1 smallmouth but Frank got the biggest ones this trip.

And I saved the best for last. We come to this lake for the Pike. I was lucky enough to catch a 28”Pike this trip.

2022 Aug 13 - Maine Fishing

This trip we went deep and used our wacky worms in the weed beds. Still did not catch anything worth photographing except this one big bass. I really do not know what to try next. Maybe a different lake!

When we were not fishing, I did see some ducks swimming by. I love the wildlife we see around the pond.

2022 July 30 Summer Fishing in Maine

It has been a very hot summer this year. It is so hot the big fish have gone deep in the water and they are hard to find. This little bass was still in the shallows and that is what I caught!

At the end of the day, it is still lovely to sit in the screen house and watch the beautiful sunsets.

2022 June 10 - Fishing with my brother George

We had a great weekend fishing with my brother George. I think we timed it just right this year in Maine because we caught a lot of bass, and the weather was fine. Too many pictures to post so here are some of the highlights.

Notice George keeps smiling more and more as the days went by just having a great time.

Of course, Frank saved the best for last! Catching the biggest bass of the weekend!

2021 Nov 4 Surf Casting on Manasota Key

After seeing the Snook yesterday, Frank couldn’t wait to start fishing. So much so, he ran out with his fresh water tackle and starting fishing before setting up his salt water rod. Didn’t take him long and something hit his jig! His rod bent sharply and Frank had his work cut out for him with this light rod and 8 lb test line!

Frank watched as his line peeled off the reel almost to the end!

50 mins later Frank is still battling his fish.

Success! A stingray!

A crowd had gathered as Frank fought this battle and some even took pictures. Seeing what Frank caught was all I needed. I grabbed my saltwater rod and ran into the surf.
