2015 - Labor Day Weekend

The end of summer. The lake is quieter now that most  families have gone and the kids are back  in school.  We had beautiful weather and we had the lake mostly to ourselves. I did well this weekend using rubber crawfish. So I ended the season on a good note with this 3 lb bass below.

2015 August

Fishing definitely slows down in the summer, especially when the days are so hot and the water is so warm it is like taking a bath.  The fish go deep and they are harder to find but we did manage to find a few bass using the wacky worms.

When we are not fishing we find time for our other favorite activity -- what I call "swimmy chairs".  There is nothing more relaxing than sitting in one of these enjoying a cold beer!

2015 July 30 - Summer Fishing with my Brother and Nephew

We just had a wonderful summer weekend with my brother Ken and his son Steven.  They had not fished in years but caught on very quickly.  It started off slow with the first fish for my brother winning the smallest fish of the day award!

 Things picked up for him right away and here he is with just one of the larger bass he caught. Pretty good for a sunny and hot summer day.

 His son, Steven led the field with the most fish and the biggest fish of the day. Here is his largest bass weighing in at 2 lbs. Great job!

2015 June 20 - Sixty Fish in One Day!

Fishing continues to be hot in Maine. We had company this weekend and our good friend Steve had his best bass fishing day ever. He couldn't believe how many fish he caught. First it was 20, then it was 30...40...50 and by the end of the day he had caught 60! Steve has been a trout fisherman for most of his life, but I think he might be a convert to bass fishing now.

2015 June 18 - Big Pickerel

Frank is all smiles again as he continues to outfish me this season! On this day he caught this incredible 24" pickerel.

2015 June 11 - Good Start to Fishing Season

We have been enjoying the spring fishing for almost a month now and fishing has really picked up.  Today we caught a lot of smallmouth bass on our favorite lake in Maine with Frank catching the biggest one of the day.

2015 June 7 - Maine

We hiked into a remote pond that we know in Maine and had a fantastic day of fishing. Frank caught the biggest bass with this one above at 4 lbs. but the action was pretty good all day as we used top water lures like a Rapala and Hula-popper.
This pond is a reclaimed trout pond but someone has reintroduced bass into this pond.  We called the Fish and Game authorities and they told us to keep all little bass we caught. Here I am with our stringer full of bass.
